The Resources

Writing Revolution Templates
I have created over seventy editable templates to use in your instruction. You can download these to your computer and use them to create writing activities quickly and easily, with all formatting taken care of for you. The full set of templates is included in your membership. You also have access to videos, prerecorded mini-workshops on specific literacy topics, information about teaching spelling, handwriting, grammar and syntax, a whole section on self-regulated strategy development and how to integrate it with the Writing Revolution, and more. New resources are being added to the classroom space all the time. Plus, members can request resources and I will either create them for you, or with you!
I show you how to make the most of the Writing Revolution approach in your educational setting. I explain how I choose source material, how I determine what activities best match each child's needs, how I pace the activities, and how I use the activities recursively.
I also explore the theory of writing instruction and literacy development. You can ask questions, create materials and submit them for feedback, get real time support, and network with other practitioners.
When you register, I invite you to join my Google Classroom where you can view and download all materials, templates, handouts and assignments. Note: a Gmail address is required for access to this classroom.
These templates, and all other items in the Resource Library are always free for members. You can preview the templates by clicking the button below.

The Drop-In Sessions
One of the highlights of membership are the monthly drop-in sessions on Zoom. Our community gets together every month to learn about and discuss a literacy topic. Some of the things we have talked about in these drop-in sessions include:
- Writing at the Sentence Level: leveraging the power of the well-structured sentence.
- Academic Paragraph Writing: teaching the writing cycle through paragraphs.
- Moving from Sentences to Paragraphs: how to get to the next level.
- Expanding into Essays: coaching written responses to curriculum content.
- The Power of the Writing-First Approach: how teaching kids to write well can cover the whole literacy "rope".
- Handwriting is Important: why teaching handwriting through explicit direct instruction is vital for written expression.
- Spelling Shenanigans: why testing spelling is not the same as teaching spelling, and how to really teach spelling through Morphology.
- Great Grammar for Sentence Success: looking at grammar instruction in context, and exploring what that really looks like for educators and learners.
We sometimes have guest speakers who visit with us to share their knowledge in a specific area related to writing instruction.
These sessions are always free for members.

The Synchronous Workshop
Twice a year, I host a Back to Basics Workshop for those new to our community. Current members are always welcome to participate as recidivists - you can never step in the same river twice...
These workshops typically run over two or three 90-minute sessions.
We look at all the Writing Revolution templates, and the Self-Regulated Strategy Development Student Materials. We work through the creation process from start to finish, so you can learn in real time how to build a writing task from scratch with fidelity and rigour.
This workshop is always free for members.

The Webinar Notes
I create and share comprehensive Professional Learning Notes for free-to-view webinars available on the internet. I choose webinars that support a Writing-First Approach to Literacy. My professional learning notes are purchased and used by individual teachers, district literacy coaches, schools, and home education co-ops. They summarise and expand upon the material in each webinar, and are a helpful visual summary for those who like to have something to look back at without having to rewatch the video.
Members always have access to a limited-time discount code to download these for free when they are first released.
